A very happy Easter to all my readers!

A hard-working rehearsal this afternoon with a number of trebles for the Area Choirs Festival in April.  Impressive singing from St John’s Boxmoor, All Saints’ Croxley Green and St Mary’s Hitchin.  Thanks to Roger Carter at the Piano and Marie Price who warmed the voices and rehearsed Lallouette’s O mysterium ineffabile.

BBC 3 Counties radio coverage will be airing very soon. The Young Musicians Competition item will run on Saturday 5 March from 13.40 – 13.50 and then again on Sunday 6 March, possibly an item during 6.30-7 and then a feature at 7.20.

Sorry the website went down for 24 hours.  I’m a novice at this, but have been really impressed with 34sp.com who gave straight forward help.  Recommended.

Terrific singing from the folks of Bedfordshire.  You need a Cathedral a bit closer to home!  I admire your commitment to church music.  Keep it up! (Sounds like a school report).

An outstanding afternoon in St Albans Cathedral for the Finals of the 5th year of St Albans Young Musician Competition sponsored by St Albans Cathedral Music Trust.  Wonderful performances by ensembles, choirs and soloists.  Huge congratulations to all the performers and their accompanists.  And not forgetting Professor Tim Blinko of the University of Hertfordshire, who put his neck on the line as the Adjudicator.  No blood was seeping under the door at the end so the audience seemed satisfied in his decision making. Phew.

I am conducting two rehearsals this coming week.

Monday 29 February in St Andrew’s, Ampthill, Bedfordshire

Wednesday 2 March in St Saviour’s, St Albans, Hertfordshire

Both rehearsals start at 7.45pm and finish at 9pm.

The accompanist is Roger Carter.
