I began directing choirs in 1974 at the age of 18.  A few years on, I still enjoy motivating and encouraging singers – whatever their age or ability.

Chris Muhley

RSCM Reform and Renewal Workshop – September 2017

For nearly a quarter of a century I ran a choir of 20 boys and 16 men at St Peter’s Church, St Albans followed by four years running a 30-strong mixed choir at St Saviour’s Church, St Albans.  At Haberdashers’ I conducted the school’s Chamber Choir, School Choir and Choral Society (of 200) together with choirs in the Prep School.

I now conduct St Albans Cathedral Parish Choir (video link) and the RSCM St Albans, Hertford and Bedford Area Chamber Choir which regularly sing for services in St Albans Cathedral and at other churches.

I have also worked with small groups of singers including the Brocket Consort with whom I recorded a CD of Christmas Carols.

Besides the RSCM Area Choir, recent engagements have been with Potters Bar Community Choir, St Etheldreda’s Choirs, Hatfield, St Albans Cathedral Parish Choir, Chipperfield Choral Society, St John’s, Boxmoor Church Choir, Adoramus Choir, Cockfosters and Chiltern Chamber Choir

I have been a member of the St Albans RSCM Area Chamber Choir since 2011 and always look forward to Chris’s choir direction in both rehearsals and services. He gets musicality out of us that we didn’t know we had, always with a cheeky sense of humour.
